Underachiever. Wish he had given up keeping when it was clear that he was no good, should have tried to focus only on batting. Because of his early debut he could have played as specialist batsman when Fab 4, Gambo were in steep decline in 2011-12....he was only 25-26 then.

Still remember all the lame jokes when he debut in 2002 in England. Also had a memorable tour down under in 2003/04 and the history defining pakistan tour in 2004. It was glorious to see him come at # 7 and whack a few boundaries.

 

Always punched above his weight/height. Bullied fast bowling for good fun. Happy retirement parthiv.

Last Test on a green mamba Joburg Test..  Played a quick cameo to wipe off SA lead. 

Also some impactful knocks vs Eng in 2016 including a 2nd inns chase in 3rd test. 

Quite an underachiever..  Had the potential to be one of best Wk batsman from us

Wishing Parthiv a happy retirement and a successful career in the future. He is already on cricbuzz now. Hopefully he will be an unabashed critic of Indian cricket to keep them honest. Liked his beatdown on kohli.

Brave guy, never backed down against pace! His wicket keeping was shoddy, so he got lot of flak for that. Starting his international career at just 17 may have worked against him as his skills wouldn't have been fully developed by then. He is one of those players who is good to have on bench to fill in for a game or two in lieu of an injured regular.

Gutsy batsmen & opener.. That Rawalpindi test where he took on Shoaib bought us a series win in Pak.  He was a bad keeper but was never considered an opener unlike DK

Partiv was very good for the role he played. He came to the scene early  but towards the end he was solid and yet another good player mistreated by BCCI.

His 2003-04 Aus keeping still gives me nightmares. And the 2018 Centurion test. Why did he want to continue as keeper considering he is probably in the Kamran Akmal class as glovesman, maybe even worse!!!

Failed in T20Is, IPL numbers nothing remarkable

 

Should have done far far better with the batting talent he possessed and the glimpses of that he showed in 2002-04.

I won’t point out his flaws on his retirement day.

 

Genuinely  always enjoyed his batting. Amazing player of the cut and pull shots.

 

Looked unfazed even on the toughest of surfaces. Could have been a clutch test bat in the Laxman mould if he worked harder.

 

Smart and Confident in his analysis and no sucking up.

Will remember him for his days in Ganguly's team as a young keeper.. and for his cut shots in IPL..

RCB missed a chance to open with him and Padikkal this season..
