nevada
So the senior player who was scolded for lacking intent is not Pujara but Ashwin. Virat Kohli’s decision of giving up the T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup was caused by a revolt led by spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin as media reports suggest. Just days after India’s T20 World Cup squad was announced, Kohli came with a shocking announcement that he would give up the captaincy for India in the shortest format of the game. According to a report by news agency IANS, a senior player had complained to the BCCI secretary against Virat Kohli for making him feel insecure in the team. The Indian skipper had reportedly accused the player of not showing enough intent in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in June this year. In the report, it is mentioned that some of the sources have mentioned that the player was Tamil Nadu off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. This matter looks more serious if the reports turn out to be true as Ashwin was benched in all the four-Test matches against England in the pending five-Test series. If the sources in the report are to be believed then Kohli had a fallout with the selectors for the inclusion of Ashwin in the T20 World Cup squad as the Indian captain wanted leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the mega event. diga
Ashwin has guts.. have to appreciate him when all others are meek around Lohli. I for one would want Lohli relieved of all captaincy as we need him more as a batsman f20143g70, SRT100, mishra and 6 others 1 1 7 Link to comment
ash
Ashwin was the only bowler who showed some intent in the WTC final, so not sure if he is the one that Virat complained about. sorak, Number, Adamant and 3 others 6 Link to comment
The Realist
The fact that Old Man Kohli wants Chahal is enough to strip anyone of captaincy. Kohli really is a bitter, insecure and petty person - not characteristics you want in any captain. raki05, Cricspin, SRT100 and 4 others 1 1 5 Link to comment
zen
So what did Ashwin revolt for? Was it because he wasn’t picked in Test series? If so, sounds selfish Edited September 28, 2021 by zen Moochad and Adamant 2 Link to comment

If so, sounds selfish If Virat is World Class , so too Ash is World class . If we count no. of matches won & drawn in last 2 years , Ash's contribution would be more than Virat. He and Rohit should also be equally treated along with Virat by the Board. Its is not Selfish its self Respect. Not sure how intent was missing in WTC by Ash ? One should look at the contribution by ASH & VK in WTC. This Arrogant prick feels insecure and players equal to his stature won't accept his brash attitude . There is no guaranteed place for 2 spinners in Eng. If Ashwin is revolting for not being included, he is implying either that 2 spinners should be playing or he should be chosen over Jadeja, both of these are unnecessary discussion Selectors too were unhappy when Ind played 2 spinners in the WTC final “The website added that the BCCI top brass has been discussing the issue since India's loss to New Zealand in the World Test Championship final in England, where they were reportedly unhappy with the Indian skipper's team selection. Kohli had played two spinners in seamer-friendly and overcast conditions during the WTC final.” Link mishra 1 Link to comment
Suhaan
Kaltaan didn't do any wrong here by not playing two spinners against England,we actually led 2-1 by doing so It was never needed,Ashwin could have only played replacing Jadeja Bumrah looked fresh due to sharing of workload and we saw it in his spells Siraj out of Lords didn't pick that many wickets but very well took control of proceedings in rest of the tests, maintaining pressure from both ends is necessary England is not the place for two spinners unless you have two Warnes Adamant and express bowling 2 Link to comment
rangeelaraja
Super proud of Ashwin - he has far more character in his spinning finger than Virat has shown in his lifetime. I only wish Ashwin the brilliant mind also told the BCCI secretary if Virats own selection was based on performance or on captaincy and why there were different standards. Virat owes huge debt of gratitude to Ashwin for his test record as captain. characterless individual. raki05, Cricspin, nevada and 4 others 1 1 5 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Kohli not selecting Ashwin for oval test was a big red flag. One can give excuse for other Tests. You can say end justifies the means. But 4 seamers was an overkill. Siraj bagged one wicket. Thakur did more with bat than ball. It was all Bumrah. nevada, Cricspin, rangeelaraja and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

Real McCoy
Here is the article https://cricketaddictor.com/cricket-news/ravichandran-ashwin-revolted-against-virat-kohli-and-complained-to-the-bcci-reports/ Quote Ravichandran Ashwin complained about Virat Kohli to BCCI According to a report by news agency IANS, a senior player had complained to the BCCI secretary against Virat Kohli for making him feel insecure in the team. Quote If the sources in the report are to be believed then Kohli had a fallout with the selectors for the inclusion of Ashwin in the T20 World Cup squad as the Indian captain wanted leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the mega event. I have never heard of IANS before so I'm gonna assume its credibility is on shaky grounds unless proven otherwise. Good masala in the article. Will help in ICFers mentally speculate on things. At least, they threw in that line (maybe to not get sued by Kohli or Ashwin). Nothing to see here folks. Ashwin was always on good terms with Kohli and Kohli had said nothing untoward towards Ashwin. Even if Ashwin or Rohit have some differences with Kohli, its always in the dressing room or with BCCI if there was a complaint. Nothing of this sort is ever revealed to the press. Even the whole Dravid-Tendulkar thing was played up by the media and so is this one. Don't become paxtan all of a sudden kirkutfan 1 Link to comment
