Yet BCCI keept bending down and taking it in for a certain mumbaikar. Now they are doing for Dhoni.

That is why we will never be a champion side like the legendary WI and Aus teams of the past. Even Kohli is on the same boat now.

He was the part of SA team during 2007, 11, 15 wc, 2009, 13, 17 CT and all those t20 wc..He was not going to magically save them during this wc,0-3 this time is collective failure. All he can do to this team is providing a bit of stability to their batting unit.

Making yourself available one day before the selection? That's ridiculous.

He should have never retired from ODIs if he was even remotely interested to play in this WC. Should have only retired from Tests and T20Is.

He shouldn't have made that offer. Once retired, stay retired! That being said, he was the heart of their batting lineup and with him gone and Amla in decline, SA batting looks very weak. It's a shame he couldn't will himself to play for just a year more and retired a year ahead of the world cup.

Did the "mumbaikar" ever leave the team and avoid domestic cricket to chase money?  The comparison is a non-starter.  But why let facts get in the way of personal biases.

Sorry this nonsense that country is bigger than player does not work when it comes to talent. AB should have been picked by SA.There is nobody on that team that is even 50 % of  AB .He is that special and he was abused by his team overworked by asking him to don all roles.

I was against Sachin picking and chosing when he wanted to play but he was done by that time.He was shell of himself and there was no point in him hanging on just to get the lousy 100th 100.If Sachin was best player in the team and he felt he needed the break that would have been no problem

CSA mishandled the whole issue they should have given AB the choice.

Nothing wrong what the cricket Board has done. Rather stick with the guys who no matter how mediocre they are giving their everything than accommodating a diva. Respect for SA board probably only odd occasion I would say that.

Why did he even retire in the first place when he had WC in mind.. national cricket is not a place where you can make kneejerk decisions and keep changing them.. right call by the board
